techniques berlin wurde 1984 von den schulfreunden andreas gregor und david rout gegründet und begann mit synthesizern, drumcomputern und gitarren zu experimentieren. in der anfangsphase war die band stark von den britischen new-romantic-bands the human league, visage, yazoo, omd und depeche mode sowie den aufstrebenden kanadischen synth-pop-bands rational youth, men without hats und trans-x beeinflusst. es dauerte ein paar jahre, bis sie ihre elektronischen spielzeuge beherrschten und eine einzigartige mischung aus süchtig machenden elektropop-melodien und wunderschön ausgearbeiteten alternativen beats kreierten.

nadanna proudly presents its new project, the canadian synthpop act techniques berlin! formed in 1984 by high school buddies andreas gregor and david rout, the band started experimenting with synthesizers, drum machines and guitars. in the early stages, techniques berlin was heavily influenced by uk new romantic acts like japan, spandau ballet, visage, the human league, orchestral manoeuvres in the dark, yazoo and depeche mode as well as rising canadian synthpop bands rational youth (dave became a member in 1998/99), men without hats and trans-x. it took them a few years to master their electronic toys and create a unique blend of addictive electropop melodies and beautifully crafted alternative beats.

dubfire and miss kittin have scored another big hit in the form of their second collaboration ride, the follow-up to the much-loved anthem exit. now, many destroyed dancefloors later and they’re unleashing a big pack of remixes to sit alongside their two original versions. solomun may best known for big melodies and hooks, but his remix boldly displays his affinity for heads down techno. a beast of a track, it centers around ticking percussion and pulsating synth delays with a throbbing low end. minimal in approach, maximal in aesthetic, it’s a no-nonsense groove. matthew dear dons his audion guise to remind us how instrumental he was in formulating that oddball techno sound a decade ago, making good use of the vocals in the heady breakdowns and matching them with unsettlingly wavering synth sirens and an almost tribal bass stomp. it’s full of atmospheric touches and pulls off a big room feel without resorting to cliches. depeche mode, erasure and yazoo legend vince clarke is a personal hero of dubfire’s, making his appearance on this package all the more of a special, rare treat. his chunky house groove is decked out with rolling congas, electro arpeggios and a yearning, bluesy guitar lick. french star djedjotronic has himself remixed depeche mode, and his version rounds off the package with throbbing low end, harrowing synths, techy percussion and brooding reese bass swells. with four very different mixes to choose from, this is an immense package that is set to cause havoc on dancefloors worldwide for some time to come.

it marks the long awaited reunion of electronic pioneers vince clarke (erasure/ yazoo/ depeche mode) and martin l. gore (depeche mode), who have joined forces for the first time in over thirty years to craft an album which, demonstrating their mutual love of electronic music. after initial tentative discussions, and a meeting at short circuit presents mute festival in london, where they both performed, these two influential musicians and songwriters, began work on the 10-track album, working in a typically unique way with the pair working alone in their respective studios, communication only via email, exchanging files until the albums was ready. the album includes the recent 12inch ep1 / spock, described by the quietus as one of the best tracks of 2011, plus the forthcoming ep 2 / single blip. the album was produced by vince clarke and martin l. gore and mixed by the influential californian electronic artist Überzone / q.

30 jahre nachdem sie ihre eigenen musikalischen wege eingeschlagen hatten, tun sich die beiden elektronischen musikpioniere vince clarke (erasure, yazoo, depeche mode) und martin l.gore (depeche mode) zum ersten mal seit 1981 wieder zusammen und veröffentlichen unter dem namen vcmg ein album und eine reihe von eps. vcmg ist das resultat einer halbjährigen auseinandersetzung mit ihrer gemeinsamen leidenschaft für techno und eine äußerst enthusiastische zusammenarbeit. das bisher noch unbetitelte album wurde von vince clarke und martin l.gore produziert und von dem kalifornischen produzenten Überzone/q abgemischt. es erscheint am frühjahr 2012 bei mute. die erste auskopplung ist die ep spock, die neben dem albumtrack auch remixe folgender künstler enthält: edit-select, aka tony scott. englischer dj und gründer von edit select records, der schon remixe für speedy j., death in vegas und gary beck gemacht hat. regis aka karl o connor. mitglied des sandwell district-kollektivs und mitbegründer von downwards records. xoq ist das alter ego von Überzone / q, der das vcmg album abgemischt hat.

alison moyet started her career in 1982, at the age of 21, when she formed the electropop duo yazoo with former depeche mode member vince clarke. yazoo scored several hits and recorded two albums. however, in 1983 moyet and clarke decided to disband yazoo.in 1984, moyet released her debut solo album alf (titled after her punk-era nickname). the record became a huge hit and spawned three international hit singles: love resurrection , invisible and all cried out .
